Jeff Cooke
President

With over three decades of experience with Cooke Insurance, Jeff is a seasoned professional. His career began in 1983 shortly after receiving his BA from UPEI. His first job was in accounts receivable where he spent the next two years learning the operational side of the business – under the expert direction of his father Charlie, the founder of Cooke Insurance. It was at this early stage in his career that the foundation of success at Cooke Insurance – service, respect, and integrity became Jeff’s operating standards.

Continuing in his close working relationship with his father, Jeff spent the next 10 years in sales – at first specializing in home and auto insurance. It wasn’t long before Jeff realized he was “meant to be in sales” – an awareness that eventually lead Jeff to discover his niche in business insurance.

In 1990 Jeff was promoted to President of Cooke Insurance. As President, Jeff is dedicated to delivering nothing less than competitive products, innovative insurance solutions and service excellence to their growing customer base. As an entrepreneur Jeff is an “out-of-the-box” thinker, an expert corporate strategist, and a visionary – traits that have, and will continue to serve the company very well into the future.

A typical day at work finds Jeff balancing his duties as President with his role as a Business Insurance Consultant specializing in the manufacturing, construction, and tourism sectors. Business insurance truly is Jeff’s niche – as an entrepreneur himself, his clients have come to value his advice from his ability to see things “from their side of the fence”. Jeff also enjoys the challenge of solving “difficult to insure exposures”. As he says, “There is not a business in PEI we can’t insure. The days of dealing with large, off-island brokerages are gone.”

Stephanie Cooke-Landry
Operations Manager

Graduating from Acadia University in 1989, Stephanie received her R.N. diploma in 1991 from the PEI School of Nursing. This drive to improve the lives of others soon came full circle and led Stephanie toward her father’s family business. From the moment she came aboard, Stephanie has never looked back.

In 1995, Stephanie began her insurance career as a Junior Underwriter for ICPEI. In 1996, she began working as a Personal Lines Insurance Broker in the Charlottetown office. Adding to her pedigree in 2005 Stephanie completed her C.I.P. (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada. She also sits on several Insurance Industry boards including the Provincial Facility Insurance Operating Committee, The Brokers Association of PEI and is a member of the board for the Insurance Institute of PEI. With over 20 years experience in the industry, Stephanie excels in her position as Operations Manager at Cooke Insurance.

The insurance industry is ever changing, likely more now than ever, presenting new challenges and learning opportunities. Stephanie never tires of seeking new opportunities to ensure all clients receive exceptional service and advice, helping keep Cooke Insurance at the forefront of the industry since 1972.

Lynne Smallman
Comptroller

Cooke Insurance Group has been very fortunate to have Lynne Smallman a part of our team since 1991.  Lynne’s dedication, work ethic and trustworthy character have been proven time and time again as she excels in her role as Comptroller.

Lynne attended The University of Prince Edward Island first in sciences and then switched to accounting and computer science courses when she discovered working with numbers was her true passion. She began to work with Trust Companies as a head teller both in Waterloo ONT then back on PEI red soil.  After working with an accountant and then taking a short time off to start a family she returned to work as an accounting technician for the local fitness club, the SPA for 12 years before joining Cooke Insurance.

Born and raised in Charlottetown PEI, Lynne along with her 3 children and 4 grand children love to spend time together and enjoy each others company.  When not around her family, you can find Lynne being active biking, walking and or going to the gym. Over the years she has been involved with various community initiatives/charity fundraisers such as Terry Fox Run, Run for the Cure and Habitat for Humanity.

Gillian Corriveau
Commercial Lines Manager

Gillian, daughter of Jeff Cooke, grew up in Stratford, PE., where she now resides with her husband and children. After completing high school she went on to continue her education at The University of Prince Edward Island where she graduated in 2011 with her Bachelor of Business Administration. Gillian is currently working on her Human Resource certificate through Athabasca University. Gillian loves to learn and is not afraid to take on a new challenge.

Gillian has an extensive background in customer service and loves working with people which she gained while working in the Restaurant and Tourism Industry for a number of years before joining Cooke Insurance. Gillian joined Cooke Insurance in 2007 where she started out as a receptionist, before long Gillian moved into the position of a Personal Lines Insurance broker and was there for a number of years before being promoted to the Personal Lines Service Manager, where she was able to mentor and coach employees. Gillian has most recently taken on the role of Commercial Lines Manager as well as she handles the Human Resources for the company.

Gillian loves the challenge the Insurance Industry brings as it is fast paced and always changing and looks forward to the future.

Shelley MacRae
Personal Lines Insurance Manager

Shelley was born and grew up in Mermaid PEI, just across the bridge from Charlottetown.  Shelley attended Charlottetown Rural High School and then went on to complete the Accounting Technician course at Holland College.  However, her love for helping people and the service industry led to her working in the restaurant and tourism industry for several years.

Cooke Insurance Group was extremely happy to have Shelley join the Team in 2004 as a Personal Lines Broker.  Shelley’s background in customer service soon became evident and she was appointed as Personal Lines Supervisor in 2008 for our offices on PEI.  In 2010, one of Cooke Insurances big expansion years, she was given the title of Personal Lines Manager for all offices on PEI, NB and NS.  Shelley began training, mentoring and coaching new employees.

In 2010, Shelley’s hard work and dedication was rewarded when she received her CIP Designation (Chartered Insurance Professional), one of the most highly recognized designations in the field.  In 2014, Shelley became a member of The Board for Insurance Institute of PEI.

Shelley is known and respected for having excellent customer service & communication skills and her position allows her to pass her knowledge onto the Personal Lines Team, which benefits what matter most to us… our clients.

Danny Corriveau
Cooke Capital, President

Danny is a graduate of the University of Prince Edward Island with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with concentrations in accounting and economics.  Danny also holds the Canadian Risk Management designation from the Global Risk Management Institute facilitated trough course work from the University of Toronto.

Danny joined the Cooke Insurance Group in 2006 as a team member in the development and implementation of CookeCare   a flexible and affordable means for companies to invest in their human capital through Custom Group Health Plans.

In 2008 Danny was promoted to President of Cooke Capital. In addition to managing the daily operations of the company, his passion is consulting with businesses, large and small, seeking customized Group Health Plan solutions. His experience in serving a broad client base enables Danny to respond quickly to the unique needs of both employers and employees enhancing long-term prosperity for his clients.

Charlie Cooke

Founder
Charlie Cooke is the founder of Charlie Cooke Insurance Agency Ltd., and the heart and soul of the Cooke Insurance Group. Since he started his company in 1972, the Cooke Group has grown to over forty-five employees, all of whom are dedicated to Charlie’s enduring values of putting the customer first.

Charlie’s hard work over the years has not gone without notice. Charlie has been recognized by numerous industry organizations for promoting employee professionalism and outstanding work. A man mindful of his community, Charlie gives generously to education and charitable organizations throughout the Maritimes.

By focusing solely on the Maritime Region, Charlie prides himself in offering insurance solutions which truly make a difference for all Maritimers. In Charlie’s own words – “As a Maritime company, we understand and respond to the real issues facing our communities.”

With his daughter Stephanie and son Jeff at the helm of Cooke Insurance, Charlie looks forward to the future of his company with anticipation and confidence.
